Healthy Benefits of Sauces, Condiments and Flavourings

A condiment is any substance such as spice, sauce, salt, mustard, or pickle that is used to enhance the flavor of food. Flavorings are awesome and crazy at times. Before you flavor your dish, know about their benefits and ill effects. Condiments are toppings on food which has enough calories in them. Condiments are never created equal. You should be careful while flavouring as it completely depends on the thing you choose, quantity, etc. and the proportion. Some may add extra calories to your food and put you over weight. A creamy salad dressing has about 80 calories approximately. A tablespoon of regular mayonnaise contains about 100 calories. Choose a condiment of great taste but less calorie. Mustards, reduced fat mayo, light salad dressing, pickle relish, reduced sodium soy sauce and hot pepper sauce are some condiments with low calories. These are having a calorie count of less than 25. And among these pepper sauce has the least with one calorie in one teaspoon. Be sure that you use less of these to reduce calorie intake with food.

Generally condiments and flavorings do not offer high nutritional values, but make your nutritious food more flavorful. Some sauces and flavorings use to trigger headaches/IBS and some includes gluten that helps in celiac disease. Make sure you use the proper one in your food. Know about them and use it. However using artificial flavoring is not that harmful. They usually do not give us the natural taste of foods and are often remarked for low-quality foods. It also causes many health problems including: nervous system depression, headaches, fatigue, allergies, brain damage, seizures, nausea, and much more. Better is not to use it  in high quantity.
