Fruit and veggies, grain foods like bread, pasta, breakfast cereals, rice, corn, reduced-fat dairy products including- milk, cheese, yoghurt, etc., and protein food – meat, fish, chicken, eggs, beans, lentils, chickpeas, nuts, tofu and so on are four main food groups you should give your child. Each food group has different minerals and nutrients in them. Your child’s body needs to grow and maintain its mechanism and development. That’s why we need to give them a range of foods from all food groups. Here are some healthy food ideas and suggestions for their children.
Try to include vegetables such as zucchini, carrots, beans, different squashes and potatoes with lentils. Make them eat fresh fruits and not the juice so that there is no added sugar and is much healthy. After they develop teething, give steamed food and add a bit of Traditional Indian spices so they could get used to it. Also, start giving different cereals of their taste. Every child is different, so prepare what works for your child’s tastes. Try different dishes and start introducing meals.
Healthy food for school
Healthy breakfast helps them concentrate at school and gives lots of energy for the day. Encourage them with healthy meals and snacks to develop a regular eating routine and make healthy food choices. When you’re packing your child’s lunch box, veggies, fruit, a grain food like a roll, pita bread or flat-bread, a dairy food and meat or egg. There are a variety of their favourite sandwiches. Serve with peanut butter, cream cheese or cheese sandwiches with sautéed vegetables. You can also add raw vegetables and fruits to their lunches.
Make simple snacks, keep plenty of fruits, vegetables, and healthy beverages and avoid unhealthy snacks. Don’t forcefully insist your child and never offer food as a reward.
